Area Wildfire Updates

Here are the latest updates we've been able to locate on the fires in the Boulder - Denver area that were previously posted on our blog:
  1. Indian Gulch Fire: Reported 100% contained after burning 1570 acres.  Hwy 6 was reopened during the afternoon on March 25, 2011 according to the Jefferson County Sheriff.
  2. Soda Creek Fire: Reported near 100% containment on March 21, 2011 by 9News.com.
  3. Burning Tree Fire (Franktown): Reported at 95% containment on March 25, 2011 by Examiner.com 
At this time we are not aware of any road closures in relation to the above listed or previously posted fire areas.  All emergency alerts are cleared for SNS personnel.

Fire Area Evacuations in Franktown (Douglas Co.)

Thurs 24 March - 3:48pm  

The Douglas County Sherriff has issued reverse 911 calls and ordered evacuations of 8,500 homes due to a quick moving wildfire south of Parker.  The following roads are closed:
  • Bayou Gulch Road 
  • East Hilltop Road
  • North and South Pinery Parkway Road 

There is no access to the Pinery from Flintwood or Hilltop Road.  Traffic jams are reported to be starting in the area.  Officials have requested that outside people avoid the area to minimize traffic congestion.
